The Cincinnati African-American Fire Fighters Association (CAFA) is an organization committed to supporting African-American firefighters, promoting diversity in the fire service, mentoring future firefighters, and strengthening relationships between firefighters and the communities they serve.


Membership in CAFA is open to eligible individuals connected to the fire service, including active firefighters, retired firefighters, and honorary members who support the mission of the organization.

To become a Cincinnati firefighter, candidates must apply through the City of Cincinnati’s Civil Service Commission when the firefighter exam is open.

The general process includes:

  • Completing firefighter training academy requirements
